ha, get it? yeah.
It’s midpoint through October 2013 and I’ve been busy, too busy to accomplish any goals! I need some more manageable goals. I’m super glad that it’s fall and it’s dark and cold, because now I can begin to hermit myself at home and make art. And manage goals.
Since I last posted I’ve ridden part of Gravel Worlds (leg cramps ended my day early), rode the Dakota 5-0 in Spearfish SD (read about my experience here http://fat-bike.com/2013/09/ben-swift-reports-on-his-dakota-five-0-experience/), I ran in the Market to Market Relay with the Screen Ink Team, and Lincoln did really well (Lincoln Nebraska First Place for Class One Cities!) in the Summer Commuter Challenge!
NEWS FLASH Mt. Make More is back and better than ever! http://www.mtmakemore.com/
I posted about this commercial that I made for Sultan’s Kite : http://www.mtmakemore.com/2013/10/14/sultans-kite-commercial/
jesus, when I write it like that it seems like I’m bragging, but I swear I’m not! I just do stuff! Alot of stuff! Oh I also went to to Portand OR and Leesburg VA, and my band played a great show with Bloodcow at Duffys! holy shit ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? what else!?
I’ve been thinking about my “career” as an “artist”. I think I can make it better, more productive, more rewarding, and more fun! It all comes down to the “tions”. Here’s a list of “tions” that I do, from best to worst:
- ideation – coming up with ideas
- creation – bringing the idea into the physical realm, usually in words or a sketch
- generation – making the idea better
- iteration – making revisions and variations
- finalization – bringing the idea to it’s end
- production – making a “product” of the final idea
- replication – making more
- documentation – taking photos, making notes
- presentation – displaying or sharing the idea
- promotion – promoting myself and my ideas
I’m going to try to get better at those last few. I need to. I want to share my ideas with you!
here are some images of things- maybe they are good or not. I’ve played with creating a K logo for Killigans, made a new character called Robobin, the Robotic Robin, started working on a lettering system where each leter has 5 lines, made a little phone character named Phoney, and worked on a bunch of eyeskull ideas. These are just things I have been doing in Illustrator. I have been sketching a ton and working up a concept for Castle Eyeskull which will be the place where all of these things that are waiting to be made will go and live and be available. For sale. Entertainment. Consuming. What ever.
Ok that’s about all for now. Look for more news soon-ish! 🙂
