tacocat, a video and other new stuff

I came up with this cute lil’ guy last year, and it’s taken me a long time to produce some art. Well, the time is now for TACOCAT to see the light of day. The first piece I did was this watercolor drawing. I donated it to the CAN HAZ CAT ART show at Screen Ink – that benefited a feline rescue program here in Lincoln called the Cat House. It was a group art show and there was a ton of cool stuff by other local artists including but not limited to Kim Brown, Nolan Treadway, and Ryan Holt, to name a few that I can remember off the top of my head. I guess they raised around a thousand bucks for the Cat House. Nice.

Anyway- I’m working on a series of TACOCAT variations on paper and board. Here’s a sample of one of the paper ones.

It’s a more “graphic” version that I have created a stencil for. There may be stickers and etc in the future. Stick around to find out more. If you want to get your hands on TACOCAT let me know. I should have some kind of a BUY NOW button… but I don’t so just contact me for more info.

In other unrelated news, I have been playing with video more and more. That is to say -some. I have been doing some 3d work and also dabbling in video editing and After Effects. Last weekend I shot some fun(?) footage of some people being daredevils and made this video out of it:

Beer Ride – Feats of Fire from Ben Swift on Vimeo.

In other NEW STUFF news, I’m working on more of those word paintings (below), I’ve brought in a couple of palettes to serve as easels, so now I can do two paintings at once. I have some desktops that I am going to convert into more workspace too. Speaking of workspace, I have cleaned and organized the print studio, so now I can get back to making art prints and posters. Sweet. OH and I am working on a test version of an idea for creating EYESKULL lights. Well, like a lighted EYESKULL wall-hanging/sculpture thing. I don’t have a photo to share, but will soon.
